The 2016-17 Performing Arts Season in Memphis opens with a diverse schedule of family shows including a sensory-friendly performance for children with autism. From musical storytime to concerts, there is something for everyone to catch this fall.
JUST FOR KIDS
Saturday, October 15, at 9:30 & 10:30 a.m.
Children ages eight and under are invited to come dressed in pirate or princess attire and enjoy this pirate tale inspired by Mark Twain's The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Oboist, Joey Salvalaggio and his own band of pirates use musical storytelling to get kids on their toes dancing to old-time ukulele songs alongside classical hits.

Children ages three to eight are invited to come join the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and experience firsthand how music and stories fit together. This is the perfect opportunity for young children to explore the instrument families of the orchestra – string, brass, winds and percussion and get excited about reading.

The show, based on the popular children's book series, The Cow Who Wouldn't Come Down, The Pig Who Ran a Red Light, and The Goose Who Went Off in a Huff captures a vision of the world where extraordinary things happen on a regular basis.

Young winners of the 16th annual Germantown Symphony Concerto Competition take the stage and perform with the orchestra. This fall concert features spooky favorites such as Night on Bald Mountain and Danse Macabre.
