Parents: Teacher Appreciation Week runs May 6th through May 10th. It has been designated by the National PTA as a special time to honor the men and women who lend their passion and skills to educating children.
Teacher Appreciation Week is a great time as the school year is ending to let your children's teachers know how much you value what they have done for your children this year. After all, everyone likes to know that their work is appreciated. A note or email is an excellent way to do this. Be creative and think beyond the academic progress your children have made. You might mention such things as how the teacher has helped your child become more organized or to find a fascination with a subject such as history or science. And don't forget to mention how much your children have enjoyed having this teacher.
It is also a nice gesture to drop a note to the administration at the school outlining the positive experiences that a teacher has given your children. Consider also extending your appreciation of a teacher to your Facebook and other social media pages. And if a teacher has been especially helpful to your children, consider presenting him or her with a small gift.
If your children have especially enjoyed this school year, have them also share their appreciation of a teacher by writing a note or an email or mentioning this on social media.
Parents should send questions and comments todearteacher@dearteacher.com or to the Dear Teacher website.
