26th Annual Step Up for Down Syndrome Awareness Walk

The Down Syndrome Association of Memphis and the Mid-South (DSAM) is sponsoring its 26th annual Step Up for

Down Syndrome awareness walk. This one-mile fun walk is held each year in October to celebrate National Down Syndrome Awareness month designed to promote awareness of people with Down syndrome, their attributes and contributions, as well as to provide educational information for parents, teachers, and employers. The event has grown from approximately 60 participants in 1997 to an anticipated 3,000 participants in 2023, making the STEP UP for Down Syndrome event one of the largest disability awareness events in the Mid-South.

The afternoon will include a picnic, vendors, entertainment, children’s area, and a one-mile fun family walk. Individuals and teams can register for the event online by visiting dsamsuds.com. Cost for registration is $15 per person, and includes lunch and a t-shirt. Prizes will be awarded for the highest fundraisers, as well as largest teams.
