The Metal Museum's free Family Fun Day is held in conjunction with the annual F.I.R.E. Conference at the Museum. On Saturday, May 21, families can learn about different metalworking processes through educational activities, view the latest exhibitions, and have a front-row seat to the action as the foundry artists pour molten iron in what is called an iron pour. Visitors can create their own scratch tiles to be included in the big iron pour ($20 per tile).
Exhibitions that will be open include RINGS! and Beautiful Metals of Ghana.
Kids and families can take part in these free activities:
• Hammering station with tin foil
• Design your own bling with pipe cleaners
• RINGS! Bingo
• Kinetic sand
• and much, much more!
The Gourmade food truck will be on-site with a delicious menu to choose from for lunches so visitors can picnic next to an incredible view of the Mississippi River.
