Hot Foot Honeys Tap Dance Company Presents HERStories
to
Buckman Arts Center at St. Mary's School 60 Perkins Extended, Memphis, Tennessee
Join the Hot Foot Honeys, Memphis’ only professional tap dance company, live and in-person at the Buckman Performing Arts Center for their ninth annual spring showcase, HERStories. Through music, dance, spoken word, and videos produced by Eric Swartz (Event One Media), this performance explores feminine inspirations in the lives of each choreographer.
From Maya Angelou and Judy Garland, to mythological characters and mothers, the show is both an education and celebration of women from all walks of life who have persevered and prevailed. “More than any show we have done, this is a very personal look into the minds and hearts of our company members,” says Marianne Bell, Artistic Director. “We took a deep dive with our creative juices to examine not only ourselves, but the lives of women who went before us and paved the way.”
In addition to works from Bell and company members Danielle Pierce, Brooke Jerome, Amber Dawson, Meredith Keaton, and Katie McIntyre, the show spotlights choreography set on the Hot Foot Honeys by professional tap dancer and Guest Choreographer Asha Griffith (Tap Water Dance Co.). Audiences will also be treated to songs by local Guest Artist Annie Freres, a powerhouse vocalist and Ostrander-award winning actress.
HERStories runs March 19 and 20, 2022, and is sponsored by ArtsMemphis and the Tennessee Arts Commission.
