Memphis Symphony Orchestra Big Band featuring Susan Marshall—Concerts in The Grove at GPAC
Thursday, September 21
Gates open at 5:30 PM and music starts at 6:30 PM
The Memphis Symphony Orchestra Big Band was founded in 2010 to highlight the virtuosic range and talent of the MSO musicians. Led by Principal Trumpet Scott Moore, the MSO Big Band performs timeless classics and new arrangements in styles from dance band to big band, samba, and many more.
The MSO Big Band also holds and preserves the historical musical archive of the Peabody Hotel Skyway Ballroom Big Band, which was one of the select locations of nation-wide syndicated Big Band radio broadcasts in the early part of the 20th century. A young Sam Phillips was one of the broadcasters for these “Big Band Remotes” before going on to found Sun Studios.
Concerts in The Grove are from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM on select Thursdays. Join us for some of the area's best musicians performing on the Duncan Williams Asset Management Stage plus cocktails and drink specials on the First Horizon Foundation Plaza. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets. Outside food and drinks are permitted at Concerts in The Grove. Gates open at 5:30 PM.
Don’t feel like bringing chairs or a blanket? Try our new table section directly in front of the stage. We’ll do all the heavy lifting while you and your friends enjoy a VIP-seating experience.
