The Memphis Youth Symphony Program (MYSP) presents its highly anticipated fall concerts, featuring 300 talented young musicians from across the Mid-South. Six orchestras and bands will perform a captivating program ranging from classical masterworks to contemporary favorites—including Saint-Saëns' hauntingly appropriate Danse Macabre, perfect for the Halloween season.
The 2:30 p.m. matinee showcases MYSP's developing musicians (ages 7-15) in Prelude Strings, Intermezzo Orchestra, String Orchestra, and Concert Band—proof that extraordinary talent knows no age limit.
The 7 p.m. evening concert features the advanced Repertory Orchestra and Youth Symphony performing works by Jean Sibelius, Arturo Márquez, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and Saint-Saëns. These accomplished high school musicians demonstrate the high caliber of musicianship thriving in Memphis.
