Opera Memphis opens its 2015-16 season with Pagliacci, featuring some of the most famous tunes in the operatic canon.
Pagliacci has thrilled audiences for over a century with its potent mix of love, lust, deceit and murder. Its central image of the clown, who must make audiences laugh, even though his heart is breaking, has embedded itself in pop culture, from Sid Caesar and Seinfeld to commercials for everyone from Rice Krispies to Taco Bell.
Perfect for newcomers and lifelong fans alike, the show features the return of Opera Memphis favorites Matt Worth and Jennifer Goode Cooper, as well as the Mid-South debut of Neapolitan powerhouse, Marco Nistico. Maestro Ari Pelto conducts.
