Preserving Our Voices: History of Women in Music
LIVE Vinyl & Vocals Listening Session
to
Memphis Listening Lab 1350 Concourse Ave, Suite 269, Memphis, Tennessee 38104
In celebration of Women's History Month, join us for an experience for women (18+) through our series called Conversations with Women — About Women. Explore a curated collection of powerful stories of women on vinyl and how their musical art of storytelling continues to impact us today: "Preserving Our Voices" — a LIVE Vinyl & Vocals Listening Session.
Music is a universal language with a reputation of historically bringing people (women) together — racially, culturally, and even geographically. Current and new vinyl listeners (young and seasoned) will leave feeling empowered to preserve their own collections and protect the Power of Our Words.
This storytelling experience will include a trip through the history of stories told by female music artists while embracing the Purpose, Worth, and Preservation from the eras that brought us vinyl and intentional lyricsim. We will celebrate the charm and uniqueness of women and how vinyls have kept us threaded together through turning tables of history. Vinyls will be played LIVE as we interweave stories with phenomenal jazz vocalists.
