The River Series with Impala and Alicja Pop at Maria Montessori School Amphitheater
to
Maria Montessori School Amphitheater 740 Harbor Bend Road, Memphis, Tennessee 38103
The second show of the Fall River Series features the sounds of two Memphis-bred acts – Impala and Alicja Pop.
Formed in the early 90s in Memphis, instrumental band Impala was born out of the golden age of Memphis music. Combining rockabilly, rhythm and blues, jazz, garage and soul music with intoxicating guitar and sax-driven R&B songs, Rolling Stone’s Robert Crawford called Impala “a truly unique sound, one that’s retro without lapsing into mimicry.”
Alicja Trout’s current project is Alicja Pop. A songwriter and musician hailing from Memphis, she’s been a driving force in several indie bands in Memphis over the past 25 years, including the Lost Sounds, the Clears, River City Tanlines and Mouserocket.
A DJ will begin at 3 p.m. with performances by Alicja Pop and Impala consecutively following at 4 and 5 p.m. A donation of $5 is requested at the door with all proceeds benefiting the Maria Montessori School. In case of inclement weather, an alternate location will be announced.
