About Kait Harris:
Kait has a BFA in printmaking from SVSU (Saginaw Valley, MI). She currently works out of her home studio as an artist and is working with Speedball as a demo artist. She specializes in linocuts, but also enjoys acrylic painting and various mediums.
“Relief printing is very versatile and you have the ability to print on paper or fabrics which is a lot of fun. You can color in your prints with colored pencils or watercolor to add even more to a print too. It’s a great medium to create your own greeting cards, stationary, tshirts and so much more right from your own home. I want to take the mystery and intimidation out of printmaking to make it more accessible to others. There are some different tools and supplies that aren’t commonly used in art class, so people might shy away from it, but I want to help people see it’s not so scary.”
Prior to becoming a full-time artist and mother, Kait was a college volleyball coach at Rhodes College (head coach, 6 years) and Saginaw Valley (assistant coach, 3 years).
“I love the look of on people’s faces when they pull their very first print. It’s a magical moment and one of the reasons I fell in love with printmaking. I am excited to be able to share this knowledge with others and help them pursue their artistic endeavors big and small.”
