Since the early 1900s, women have played an essential role in both the business and performance side of the Memphis music industry. This is especially true at Stax Records, with Estelle Axton serving as an equal partner in the company, to artists like Carla Thomas and Mavis Staples. Join us for this special living history program, where we bring to life the stories of six women and their contributions to Stax Records and Memphis music.
This is an event for ALL ages - will be very engaging and entertaining way for young learners to discover the Stax story. Presented in partnership with the Women's Theatre Festival of Memphis.
