Urban Math Palooza

MATHHEAD PRODUCTIONS

The mission is simple: to promote mathematics through events that motivate and excite students and their families.

A FAMILY AFFAIR

During the math competitions, parents are encouraged to stay and attend free workshops on entrepreneurship, health, and financial literacy. There are also activities for younger siblings who cannot participate. Food and beverages will be available.

FAMILY MATH NIGHT

The Urban Math Palooza is a two-day event that begins with Family Math Night on Friday for students in grades K-8. Family Math Night for families with children in grades K-5 is from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, while families with children in grades 6-8 will complete activities from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

COMPETITION DAY IS SATURDAY

Saturday's competitions take place from 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM. The Math Problem Hunt is an individual competition by grade. Thirty students must complete 25 word problems in 60 minutes. First, second, and third prize winners are awarded.

You Got Da Vocab? is a mathematics vocabulary game show. Three students in grades 6-8 compete. The winner is awarded.

The M.A.T.H. Genius Battle is a rap battle. M.A.T.H. stands for Mathematically Astute Through Hip-hop. Each contestant performs an original rap of a math concept or topic, complete with their background music, or he/she can go at it freestyle without music. First, second, and third prize winners are awarded.
