NOTICE: As of Tuesday, Sept. 17, free tickets are no longer available.
Bring a new or gently worn children's book to the library this month and you can receive a free ticket to Disney On Ice. The tickets (up to two per family) are good for the opening night performance of Disney on Ice's Rockin' Ever After. Tickets may only be used on Friday, September 20. The show starts at 6:30 p.m.
The book drive is a great way to share your children's books with the library and enjoy Disney on Ice with your child for free. Performances runs through Sunday, September 22, at the FedEx Forum. Tickets are $19-$135. You can purchase tics here, or at the FedEx Forum box office.
The giveaway is being held as a fund-raiser for the Friends of the Library. Their aim is to beef up the Children's Library collection. As a volunteer organization, the Friends does outreach and fund-raising for the library by selling books on Amazon.com and at the Second Editions bookstore at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library. Their outreach efforts put books into the hands of women at the women's prison, kids at the juvenile detention center, MATA bus riders through their Books on Buses program, and visitors at Overton Park.
You can even take advantage of their collection by receiving free books on your Kindle or other electronic readers. Just ask a librarian about the software download required and get reading.
