Agricenter International is asking 3rd-12th grade students to showcase their creativity in the annual Ag Day Student Art Contest and Exhibition. There are cash prizes for both winning students and teachers of winning students. Art entries are due by March 13, 2020.
Only new pieces of artwork inspired by this year’s current theme may be submitted. “Ag Brings Everyone to the Table: Exploring Ag Careers” is the theme. Art must explore the numerous agricultural careers that bring us the food, fiber, and fuel we use each day.
Any 3rd-12th grade public, private, and homeschool student enrolled in Shelby County, Tennessee, and Desoto County, Mississippi, schools can participate. Students will be judged in grade divisions. Division one will contain 3rd-6th grade. Division two will contain 7th-9th grades, and division three will contain 10th-12th Grades.
1st Place winner in each division will win $100. 2nd Place winner in each division will win $50. 3rd Place winner in each division will win $25. These student winners and their families will be invited to attend the “Ag Day” celebration in March 2020 to be recognized. The ceremony is on April 1st, and open to the public.
Teachers of each first place winner will receive $100. There is also an opportunity for one participating teacher to win $250 in a random drawing.
Students may develop an entry inside or outside of school. There is no limit to the number of art pieces that can be submitted per school.
There are six categories that students can enter. The six categories are drawing, photography, painting, graphic design, collage, and short video. Students are eligible to submit one entry in each contest category.
Art entries will be judged on the interpretation of concepts, uniqueness, artistry, and artist statement.
Each entry must be the original work of one student only. Only one student may be recognized as the award recipient for each entry. An adult may not alter the integrity of a student’s work. Help from an adult or collaboration with other students is not allowed. Children of sponsors are not eligible.
Entries must be accompanied by an “Artist’s Statement” of at least 10 words, but no more than 200 words, that is created by the student. The artists statement communicates what inspired the work, how it relates to the theme, and the content of the work.
The entry form must include, the name of student, age, grade level, name of school, names of parent or guardian and their complete mailing address with zip code, telephone number, and the full name of the art teacher or home room teacher the artwork was created in, along with the teacher’s email.
The deadline to enter the Ag Art Contest is March 13, 2020.

Video submissions can be mailed or hand delivered on a USB drive to the Agricenter at the address listed above. Video submissions will also be accepted via links sent to Tim Roberts at trobert6@utk.edu. Hand delivered entries must be submitted during normal business hours, 8:00 am until 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, to the Agricenter Administrative Offices.
