The Children’s Museum of Memphis is hosting a monthlong celebration of Hispanic heritage and culture with weekly activities focusing on different countries – Spain, Guatemala, Chile, and the Dominican Republic — events happening now, through October 12.
Activities dive into what makes each region unique through interactive, hands-on play, including scavenger hunts, art activities, storytelling, coding, music, sensory play, and pop-ups.
- Scavenger hunts encouraging children to explore the museum in search of national birds, flowers, and flags
- Art activities spotlighting artists from each country
- Story times, featuring “Valencia and the Golden Fiesta of Spain,” “Rainbow Weaver/Tejedora del Arcoiris,” “Nosotros Means Us,” “Islandborn,” and more
- Coding activities inspired by local crafts and natural resources
- Sensory play with castanets, coffee, rain sticks, and slime
- Pop-up activities such as tomato splat art, weaving bowls, “Horsehair” Crin crafting, and amber resin experiments with bug fossils
- Music and national dances from each country
Additionally, guests can enjoy food from Hispanic food trucks — Sundays, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., and piñatas at 2 p.m., to wrap up the week’s celebration.
