Hi, I’m Alys, and I’m here to talk about this virus.
You’re probably like, “Ugh, more about that!” but I am hoping you keep on reading because all you’ve heard from are grown-ups, and I’m an 8-year-old. Remember when I said I was going to talk about the virus, well I’m not just going to talk about that, I also want to talk about how and what I’ve been doing to deal with it.
When it all started, it was right around my birthday, March 22nd. Spring break was first, and then school got held back and I was just a little scared, but it seemed okay because it was only one week. For spring break, we were supposed to go to Washington, D.C. My family went back and forth about going or not, but they all agreed in the end that to stay safe we shouldn’t go. I was supposed to meet my cousin, who was 6-and-a-half months old, and when I found out that I wasn’t going to see her I cried for like the rest of the day.
Back to my birthday: My family went back and forth if I should have a birthday party, and turns out, just my family and one friend came and it was really fun anyway, and that’s all that matters. After that, I got a Fitbit, and I don’t mean to brag, but on my first day I got 31,000 steps and that was only a half day! Soon after that, I started homeschool, which was so fun by the way, we finished on May 22 when school was supposed to let out. Like a month after all this started, the zoo reopened, but you had to wear a mask, and Channel 3 news and Melissa Moon, who I am such a fan of, was there. Sadly, only my mom and brother got on the news when they were showing people walking around.
Alys masked up for the Zoo reopening!
Then, like a week later, I went to a drive-in and we watched Trolls: World Tour and Dolittle, and guess what? This is probably not surprising, but I’m just going to say it, Channel 5 News was there and I said hi to the camera guy and this lady news reporter. I am also such a big fan of them.
Before I stop writing, I want to tell you some other stuff that I did between all of that. One thing that I did was tie-dye shirts, and I helped my brother learn how to ride his bike, and we saw like five snakes on our walks and watched old shows and movies like Murder She Wrote; Back to the Future 1, 2 and 3; and E.T. We’ve even started swimming in the pool!
So, hope you liked hearing what I’ve done so far. Bye bye!
