Some of us are lucky enough to be born with the girly-girl gene. The one that draws us to pretty flowered dresses that sway when we play. Such is the case for Sabrina, a delicate little girl I happened to meet while visiting the Oak Court Mall recently.
After all, where else would a fashionista rather be during the heat of summer than out shopping with her mother?
I love how statuesque Sabrina looks in this sundress by Bonnie Jean. With its Kelly green bodice and flounce of apricot flowers, the colors remind me of the Delta in springtime.
Adding to its elegance is the empire waistline, trimmed in gold braid and red heart sequins. Is it any wonder this caught her eye? Sabrina loves poring over fashion magazines and making outfits for her paper dolls.
"I've bought so many wedding magazines," notes her mother, Brandy. "She uses them for inspiration, to draw gowns of her own." It's been quite an education for the mother and daughter, "since I'm a tomboy at heart," says Brandy with a smile.
While Sabrina loves to run outside and play with her brother, Sammy, as well as her cats (Pretty can even talks, she tells me), I suspect this 8-year-old also has a scientist lurking inside. She often gathers up spent strawberries from the family's garden and tries to extract their essence to make a sweet smelling perfume.
With all of her creative talent, something tells me the fashion world may one day hear from this inquisitive young lady — and she'll be elegantly dressed for the occasion.
