Memphis in July is hot. Like trapped-in-a-sauna hot. But it can also be quite beautiful, particularly on the grounds of Memphis Botanic Garden. As you plan your 31 days of July in Memphis, consider the events below. Hydrate properly, apply sunscreen, and relish the outdoors, heat and all.
Light & Color Inspired art exhibition.
This will be nice and cool, a gallery of artwork on display in MBG’s Grand Hallway. Ann Brown Thomason, Barbara Hicks, and Katie Lindsey met as members of the Bartlett Art Association. This is their first in-person exhibition together, a vibrant collection of paintings that echo the natural beauties of MBG.
Down the Rabbit Hole (outdoor art exhibition). White Rabbits lead the way on this journey through the Garden’s 96 acres. The interpretations accompany Alice’s Adventures in the Garden, larger-than-life sculptures made entirely of “mosaiculture, the horticultural art of creating giant topiary-like sculptures using thousands of bedding plants to carpet steel armature forms.” You’ve never seen the Red Queen or the Cheshire Cat quite like this.
