Mid-South Hobbies is welcoming the community to join them in celebrating their expansion and launch of a new outdoor remote control park. Open to the public, families are invited to a Grand Opening and Customer Appreciation Event this Sat., June 15, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., at Mid-South Hobbies located at 4862 Summer Ave.
We are so excited to share this space with the community and invite families to join us this weekend to have an opportunity to drive these cars first-hand!,” says Aubrey Overstreet, owner of Mid-South Hobbies. “There is something for everyone in this park and we hope it will provide a space where families can spend time together making memories that last a lifetime.”
With more than 16,000 square feet of space dedicated to hobbies ranging from remote control vehicles to model trains, craft kits, and needlework, Mid-South Hobbies is expanding even further. The store is taking advantage of its large outdoor space by building an Outdoor Track for remote control cars, trucks, crawlers, bashers, and more.

Crawler Course
Situated on two acres, the Outdoor Track includes an Off-Road Dirt Track, a Crawler Course, an 18th scale course, and a Basher Course. All courses are free to play with a signed waiver. Remote control enthusiasts are welcome to use their own remote control (RC) vehicles or demo models will be available from Mid-South Hobbies.
Since the event is the day before Father’s Day, it’s the perfect time to bring Dad in to check out what’s new in the store,” says Overstreet. "The RC Park isn’t focused on racing or competition; think of it as an extension of your own backyard – a place to relax, hang out, and have fun! The store has been around for 28 years, but we have grown and changed a lot in the past year, and the outdoor track is just one part of that."
Customers can also enjoy a Double Points Weekend on all products in the store, delicious eats from food trucks including Summer Avenue favorites like Taqueria la Guadalupana and Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, as well as giveaways, and more.
In addition to the Outdoor Track, Mid-South Hobbies is offering an expanded calendar of events for a wide array of activities just in time for the summer holidays. Hobbyists can take advantage of Airbrushing and Figurine Painting classes, on-site bi-weekly on-road racing with Thrills & Spills racing group, and modelers club meetings.
Founded in 1996, Mid-South Hobbies is a second-generation, family-owned, old-fashioned hobby shop offering a wide range of items from vintage model trains to the latest in remote control vehicles, an indoor slot car track, and an extensive RC parts and accessories department.
