Are you into jazz music? Celebrate Jazz Week 2020 presented by The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music at University of Memphis (U of M). ComboNation kicks off the event at Newby’s on Highland followed by performances at Harris Concert Hall @ U of M. The rest of the schedule includes Faculty Jazz Players, U of M Jazz Singers, and 901 Jazz Band and wraps up with performances of High School Honor Jazz Bands directed by Rahsaan Barber and Dr. Jack Cooper, plus the Southern Comfort Jazz Orchestra.

Dixon partners with Theatre Memphis for this celebration of women’s creativity in the community. The event brings together a host of women for demos, dialogues, and performances. Executive directors from local arts organizations host a panel discussion around leadership in the arts. Participants include Debbie Litch with Theatre Memphis, Dorimar Ferrwe with Cazateatro, Whitney Hardy with 3rd Space, Katie Smythe with New Ballet Ensemble, Marcia Kaufmann with IRIS Orchestra, and Karen Golightly with Paint Memphis. 47th Annual Silky Sullivan St. Patrick’s Day Parade @ Beale Street
Saturday, March 14, at 2 p.m. EVENT POSTPONED TO SATURDAY, APRIL 11, AT 2 P.M.
Are you feeling lucky? You will after you take part in the Beale Street parade with bands, cars, dancers, floats, and more. The parade starts at 4th and Beale and travel west toward the river. Named for the late Beale Street restauranteur and Memphis “King of the Irish” Thomas “Silky” Sullivan, the parade is the largest St. Patrick’s observance in the Mid-South and the centerpiece of six days of events celebrating Irish traditions, heritage, and families in Memphis. Wear your green and stay behind the barricades.
