Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, The Mid-South Transplant Foundation (MSTF) will still be bringing awareness to organ and tissue donation with their Blue and Green Day on April 17th. Blue and Green Day, part of National Donate Life America’s month-long campaign, is an event that is hosted to highlight more than 4,000 Mid-Southerners waiting for a life-saving organ transplant.
Even though we’re all social distancing, there are still ways the public can get involved in Blue and Green Day. MTSF is looking for local individuals, groups, or businesses. Those Memphians can help turn Memphis blue and green by decorating their car, lighting their home, or even just wearing blue and green. Participants can take pictures and upload them to the MSTF site to show that they’re participating for a chance to win prizes.

Blue and Green Day will end with the Big River Crossing and the Hernando de Soto bridges being lit blue and green. Although Blue and Green Day ends Friday, According to MTSF they are committed to working every day to saving or improving the quality of lives for people in need of transplants.
According to Kim Van Frank, Mid-South Transplant Foundation’s executive director, “The safety of our staff, recipients, and donor families is of the utmost importance to us. We’re proud to be able to continue our work saving and enhancing lives through organ and tissue donation and transplantation.”
MTSF encourages Memphians to register to become organ and tissue donors so more lives can be saved. For more information, visit midsouthtransplant.org and look for the Blue & Green Day icon.
