Today, more than ever perhaps, it's important to teach our girls that they can accomplish as much or more than the next person, to instill in them the self-confidence and empowerment to reach and exceed their goals. To contribute in that effort, Hutchison School and Girl Scouts Heart of the South have joined hands to present Strong GIRL Fest, an interactive community event being held this weekend on Saturday, October 13th.
The event, which is free for girls and their families, runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hutchison School (1740 Ridgeway Road, 38119). The day's agenda includes leadership-building, art, and hands-on activities, sports clinics, talks from special guests, and various outdoor festivities.
From the press release: "Girls can test their engineering skills, get down and dirty with urban farming, take part in girl-led dance and theater performances, or learn new lacrosse skills. A number of community partners such as the Dixon Gallery & Gardens and the Memphis Zoo will have events planned for the girls in attendance. Many of the events inspire girl power, with women engineers and firefighters teaching young girls that they can do anything they set their minds to."
