Memphis Zoo announced that it is closed effective today, Thursday, March 19th. But the zoo understands that families will still want to experience the exhibits they have to offer, so they are now offering unique inside looks of the zoo on their social media to keep children and families connected with some of their exhibits.
“This is an opportunity for us to connect our animals and team members with zoo fans who may be spending some extra time at home,” said the zoo’s communications specialist Amanda Moses via press release.
Families will have the opportunity to view Virtual Wild Encounters hosted by their animal interpreter team, Zoo Dude hosted by Chief Zoological Officer Matt Thompson, and Zoo News "hosted" by penguin brothers Casey and Kelso.
Yesterday, the first Virtual Animals Encounters was released, led by animal interpreter Jenny who shared interesting facts and knowledge about their ambassador opossum, Ross the Awesome Opposum. The video can be viewed below:
