This summer, the YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South, in collaboration with community partners, is proud to continue its commitment to youth and community wellness by offering free 7-day meal packs to children across the Mid-South. Designed to ensure that children 18 years and under have access to nutritious food while school is out, this program addresses a critical need in our communities.
The meal program will support children across Memphis, West TN, Nashville, and Mississippi. Meal distribution will be May 24, 2025 through August 2, 2025, with each meal site operating on a weekly basis.
During the school year, many children rely on school meals as a primary source of nutrition. But when summer begins, that lifeline is often cut off, leaving a large amount of children without access to regular, healthy meals. The YMCA and its partners are ready to step in to help fill that gap.
We know that summer can be a vulnerable time for many families,” says Jerry Martin, president and CEO of YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South. “Through this program, we’re working to ensure that no child has to go hungry simply because school is out.”
The meal packs include nutritious, kid-friendly options that help meet daily dietary needs. Meal distribution is completely free and available to all children 18 years and under, with no registration or ID required.
The summer food program is part of the YMCA’s broader mission to support healthy living and reduce food insecurity in communities we serve. By partnering with local organizations and volunteers, the YMCA is making it easier for families to access the support they need—when they need it most.
The YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South has been serving the local community for 170 years, focusing on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. To learn more or to find a distribution location, date, and time near you, visit ymcamemphis.org/food.
