If your family has been a fan of Theatre Memphis’ A Christmas Carol, be sure to put this year’s performance on your holiday must-see list. Actor Barry Fuller, who originated Charles Dickens’ title role of Ebenezer Scrooge for the company back in the 1970s, will be playing Scrooge for last time this season. NOTE: The show runs from December 6th through the 23rd.
This month begins Fuller’s 13th year as the irascible old man who hates Christmas but finds redemption through the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.
NOTE: Due to inclement weather, the gala honoring Barry Fuller as Scrooge has been rescheduled for December 19, at Theatre Memphis. The gala will include refreshments, along with a meet-and-greet with the beloved actor, and a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit the theater’s artistic programs. “I’ve been so fortunate to have been touched by the individuals and families that formed the Christmas Carol company each year. I’ve made some amazing friends,” says Fuller. “And I am so touched that Theatre Memphis is making this year so special.”
Weekday school matinee performances (a shorter version without Fuller) run Monday through Friday at the Lohrey Stage. December 4-20. Show times are 9:30 & 11 a.m. $6/Child. $8/Adult. Free for Teachers. Call 682-5261 for reservations.
