Getting over the baby blues can be tough. If you’ve recently become a mother and need support, consider attending the New Mom Support Group. The group runs Thursdays at 10 a.m., from October 17th through November 21st, at the Owings Life Enrichment Center at Germantown United Methodist Church.
Christine Burns, a licensed mental health counselor who specializes in postpartum depression (PPD) and women’s issues, will lead the group.
“New mothers are faced with specific hormonal and physical changes after childbirth that can wreak havoc on our emotions,” says Burns. “The more a new mother experiences a sense of community and support, the healthier she and her child will be.”
The class meets for six, one-hour sessions, and is limited to 15. Sessions will cover baby blues and PPD, setting healthy boundaries, and healthy parenting. Resources available for those who need additional help. Childcare is $3 for one child, $1 for each added. Call McVay Counseling at 758-6524 for details.
