Bloodlines + Bylines: Excavating Familial Stories from Memphis

Project: Motion Modern Dance Collective digs deep into the stories that shape us with its May show. The modern dance collective returns to the Evergreen Theatre for a moving experience of all-new dance works mined from true Memphis stories.

Guest artist and writer, Anna Esquivel, masterfully weaves stories of family harvested from writing and movement workshops Project: Motion held in the Fall of 2014. In Bloodlines + Bylines, Project: Motion premieres original choreography based on these stories from Bethany Wells Bak, Rebecca Cochran, Emily Hefley, Louisa Koeppel, and Wayne M. Smith. As a fascinating twist, the works will be presented in an open stage without wings, removing the boundaries between onstage and offstage so that dancers are performing continually throughout the show.
