It's time to get wet and wild at CMOM! The Children's Museum of Memphis celebrates their 22nd birthday this Saturday, June 16, with a Splish Splash Birthday Bash. The fun unfolds from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. General admission is $15, $3 for members. Wear your swimsuits and plan to get wet on the 22-foot waterslide and giant slip n' slide — or try out the rock-climbing wall and games. It promises to be lots of fun for all.
We also got a sneak peek at the new splash park exhibit the museum has underway. And judging from the plans, it's going to be a great destination for families. CMOM's Splashpad will be a garden of fountains, squirting flowers, spray poles, and geysers where kids can cool off. A water organ that can be played like a piano will be one of the play area's special features. Children will run and splash on a soft, rubberized surface that's non-slip.
The water area and patio space where parents can sit is expected to cover approximately 7,700 square feet. The playspace will be built in the front yard of the museum. Groundbreaking is scheduled to take place this fall, with a grand opening set for the spring of 2013.
