Come celebrate the rich diversity of voices from our community. Bookstock features 40 local writers with their books. Several writers you've read in Memphis Parent, including Stephanie Painter, author of Liz Tames a Dragon; and Dorchelle Spence, with her young adult novel, No Less Worthy.
If you're interested in writing children's books, come to the Memphis Parent Writers Panel and learn more. 2:30 p.m.
Award-winning children's book author Patricia McKissack (11 a.m.), journalist Charles Graeber of true crime thriller, The Good Nurse, and best-selling novelist Mary Monroe (1 p.m.) are the featured guest speakers.
Activities will be going on throughout the day, including cooking demonstrations, a gadget lab for kids, tales and tunes, and much more. Free.
12th Annual Regatta & Duck Race • The Maria Montessori School, Mud Island
Saturday from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
Watch the canoe and kayak race on the Wolf River or the rubber duck race in the school's pond. Lots of live music, make-and-take art, even boat rides in the harbor. Free.
