Summer is just around the corner, what will your kids be doing? If you're still looking for last-minute possibilities, we've got a couple of suggestions.
JR. RANGER CAMP - AGES 6-14
Let your kid develop a love of the outdoors by attending a Junior Ranger program at T. O. Fuller State Park. The camp takes place June 3-6 and runs from 5 to 7 p.m. It is free and open to kids ages 6 to 14. Campers will learn about birds of prey, do some hiking, study wetlands, and play games. Registration deadline: May 31. For more information, email michael.champagne@tn.gov or pick up packets at the park's visitor center, 1500 W. Mitchell Road.
BASKETBALL CAMP - AGES 7-16
With all the playoff activity, Grizzlie-mania has got area basketball camps hopping. Get in on the fun by signing up your kids for the Grizzlies basketball camps for boys and girls ages 7 to 16. There are 13 camps scheduled starting the week of May 28th, and running through the week of July 29th. Four day, half-days camps (9 a.m.-noon) cost $115. Four day, full-day camps (9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.) are $215. Lunch is not included. Go here for details.
LEADERSHIP TRAINING - AGES 15-17
BRIDGES still has openings for their year-long Bridge Builders program, which is open to rising high school juniors and seniors. Designed to teacher leadership, diversity, and community change, the program has lots of hands-on adventure and education opportunities. During the week-long summer program, students will meet kids from other neighborhoods across the city as they build community. "Many kids tell us they find their voice," says Bridge Builders Vice President Kristin Fox-Trautman. Come find yours. Fees based on a sliding scale. Go to bridgesusa.org for more.
