For over 20 years, SAY has offered comprehensive and innovative programs that address the physical, social, and emotional impacts of stuttering, including Camp SAY, Camp SAY Across the USA, and more.
“Partnering with SAY: the Stuttering Association for the Young for the past six years to bring Camp SAY: Across the USA – Memphis to the Halloran Centre at the Orpheum has been impactful in endless ways,” says Jennifer McGrath, vice president of Education & Community Engagement at Orpheum Theatre Group. “We have connected to so many incredible young people and families to let them know they are not alone in the world and that what they have to say matters.”
Camp SAY: Across the USA - Memphis will offer a wide variety of games and activities that encourage communication, creativity, and teamwork. Camp SAY offers an exceptional staff-to-camper ratio, with counselors who are experts at working with young people who stutter.
“Holding space for these young people to find community and express themselves creatively and confidently helps make the world a little bit better and it is an honor and a joy to be able to bring this FREE opportunity to young people who stutter here in the Mid-South,” says McGrath.
Camp will also include an optional parent education workshop and support group, where parents can learn more about stuttering, share their experiences, and meet other parents of kids and teens who stutter. Each camper receives a free camp t-shirt, and camp includes all programming supplies, plus breakfast and lunch daily.
