If you’re a public school parent, you know the school registration drill: Show up at your school on the designated day, stand in line — and wait and wait.
Well, here’s some good news. This year, you can skip the wait and register on your own time. The Shelby County Schools system (SCS) is launching a new online registration system that should make life a lot easier for time-crunched parents.
The InfoSnap Online Registration system goes live Monday, July 13, and will hopefully ease school registration for the upcoming year. (We say hopefully since what kind of glitches await won’t be known until parents start accessing the website.)
You will need to create an account, input your SNAPCODE (info that will be sent to you via email by SCS), and be able to scan in required documents from your computer to use the system. However, there are other reasons you may need to come to your school prior to opening day: Registration for before- and after-care, PTA involvement, will be held at all SCS on August 4, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. or from 4 to 7 p.m.
To get the full 4-1-1 on the documents you need and how to register your child, go to Memphis School Guide.org. There, you’ll find lots of school information, from registration details to individual school reports that provide all the info you need to make an informed school choice.
