I‘ve been tackling a big project this summer. I decided to reclaim a room in my home that had become a place for storing stuff in transition. Whenever we’d tidy up a bedroom or rearrange furniture, the disgarded books and chairs would find their way to this room. It was originally my office, but it had become so cluttered, it was barely functional. In an effort to better use the space, I hauled everything out, then had the floors restained, the walls repainted, and the excess stuff moved on to Goodwill. The end result is that my spare bedroom finally looks much sparer than it has in a long time. What’s more, I’ve cleaned it up so I now know where everything is. What I’ve discovered in this process is the importance of organization. I love that the things I need can be reached in a moment’s notice. That’s precisely our aim each July, when we release our annual Family Survival Guide. We know in your busy lives, it’s easy to lose sight of the important stuff you need. What’s more, you sometimes don’t know what you’re looking for until the need arises. That’s where our resource guide will come in handy. Here you’ll find helpful information for selecting a school, locating a counselor, or maybe uncovering a cool destination for weekend fun. You’ll find the layout easy to follow; we’ve even included an annual calendar that highlights the best family-friendly events in Memphis. So here’s to getting organized this summer. We hope you’ll find what you need inside these pages.
